Abstract
This article analyzes the works of Anatoly Alekseevich Burtsev, Doctor of Philology, Professor and Academician of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Academy of Sciences.
The relevance of this topic is determined by the scale, thematic range, and fundamental nature of his works, accompanied by in-depth analysis of numerous works of Yakut and world fiction.
His monographs and articles reveal the methodological foundations of comparative literary studies using materials from the olonkho epic, Yakut prose, poetry, and drama.
The purpose and objectives of the article are to identify the relevance of the problem and outline the main significance of Professor Burtsev's scholarly works; to determine the parameters of his research novelty on the history of Yakut literature in the context of contemporary problems of literary comparative studies.
Methodologically, the article is based on studies of comparative issues in the works by A. D. Mikhailov, Yu. B. Borev, K. K. Sultanov, and P. M. Toper. The article is divided into two parts: Professor Burtsev’s works on the history of Yakut literature, and his contribution to the development of comparative historical studies of foreign literature in Yakutia's educational institutions. His findings confirm his hypothesis about the connection between Yakut literature and global literary process in the areas of genre and poetics.
The novelty of Professor Burtsev's philological principles is also linked to his understanding of the debates around the work and scholarly biography of Yakut classic writers.
